  • 3/4 c. vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. sorghum molasses
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. quick oats
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Beat together shortening, sugar, molasses, egg, water and vanilla until creamy.

    Add combined remaining ingredients and mix well.

    Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet.

    Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes.
