- 3/4 c. vegetable shortening
- 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. sorghum molasses
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 c. quick oats
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Beat together shortening, sugar, molasses, egg, water and vanilla until creamy.

2Add combined remaining ingredients and mix well.

3Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet.

4Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes.

5Watch closely; they burn easily.
