Old Fashioned Bake Apples

- 4 large baking apples
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- maple syrup
- cinnamon
- nutmeg
- 2 Tbsp. water
Directions

1Wash apples but do not peel them.

2Core by taking out center from top to bottom.

3Cut thin slice off apple bottoms so they will sit upright in skillet.

4Melt butter in heavy skillet over moderate flame.

5Place apples in pan.

6Fill core cavities with maple syrup.

7Dust apples with cinnamon and pinch of nutmeg.

8Add water to pan.

9Cover and simmer over low flame for about 20 minutes.

10Apples may be served as is or with dab of whipped cream. Serves 4.
