Old Fashioned Bread Pudding

Ingredients
- 2 c. milk
- 4 c. coarse bread crumbs
- 1/4 c. butter, melted
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. seeded raisins
- 1 tsp. cinnamon or nutmeg
Directions

1Heat milk to scalding.

2Pour over bread.

3Cool and add the melted butter, sugar, eggs, salt, raisins and spice.

4Pour into 1 1/2-quart casserole that has been buttered.

5Set the casserole in a pan of hot water 1 inch deep.

6Bake at 350° until silver knife inserted in pudding comes out clean, about 1 hour.

7Serve warm with lemon sauce if desired, or cream.
