  • 3 c. soft bread crumbs (use 4 c. for firmer)
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 c. seedless raisins
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. milk, scalded with 1/4 c. butter*

Directions

    Mix all ingredients in a 1 1/2-quart baking dish thoroughly. Place baking dish and a pan of hot water (1-inch deep) in oven. Bake until knife inserted 1 inch from edge comes out clean, about 30 to 45 minutes at 350°.
