- 1 large fryer or hen
- 2 c. flour
- 1 c. milk
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 3 eggs, uncooked
- 1 pt. sweet milk
- 1/3 stick butter
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions

1Boil the chicken.

2Save the broth.

3In a large deep pie pan, put cooked chicken and broth.

4Make stiff dough for crust and dumplings.

5Bring chicken and broth to boil.

6Add dumplings. Reduce heat to low.

7Let cook 10 minutes.

8Break eggs into the hot mixture.

9Add sweet milk; season to taste with pepper and salt. Make the crust.

10Put the crust on top and bake in 400° oven until brown.

11Spread the butter on top of the crust when done.
