  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/3 c. flour
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1/3 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Beat sugar, eggs and shortening.

    Dissolve cocoa and soda in hot water.

    Beat in sugar mixture.

    Add flour, buttermilk, soda and vanilla; mix well.

    Put in well-greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan or 3 (8-inch) round pans.
