- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 c. boiling water

2Preheat oven to 300°. Grease one 9-inch square cake pan.

3Into large bowl, measure all ingredients.

4With mixer at low speed, beat until well mixed, scraping bowl with rubber spatula.

5Beat at medium speed 2 minutes, occasionally scraping bowl.

6Pour batter into pan and bake 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

7Cool in pan on wire rack.

8Serve warm.
