- 12 cup white sugar
- 12 cup butter
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup molasses
- 2 12 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 12 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 12 teaspoon ground cloves
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup hot water
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350F (175C).

2Grease and flour a 9-inch square pan.

3In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter.

4Beat in the egg, and mix in the molasses.

5In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt.

6Blend into the creamed mixture.

7Stir in the hot water.

8Pour into the prepared pan.

9Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

10Allow to cool before serving.
