- 1 c. vegetable shortening (not oil)
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 3/4 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. powdered cloves
Directions

1Mix first four ingredients together.

2Mix remaining ingredients together and add to first mixture.

3If soft, chill. Roll into 1-inch balls and dip in sugar.

4Bake on ungreased cookie sheets at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes.
