- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup melted shortening
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups walnuts
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350*.

2Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into large bowl.

3Add egg, shortning, milk and vanilla.

4Stir until all is moistened.

5Stir in the walnuts.

6Bake in a 9x5 loaf pan for 1 hour, 20 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
