- 3 slices stale bread (white, whole wheat, oatmeal or whole grain)
- 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine (room temperature)
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. raisins
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon or nutmeg
- 1 egg
- 1 c. milk
Directions

1Preheat oven to 325°.

2Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.

3Stack slices and cut in 3/4-inch squares.

4Turn into ovenproof 1-quart casserole dish; sprinkle with sugar, raisins and spice.

5Beat egg with milk.

6Pour over bread mixture.

7Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until pudding is set.

8Serve warm or cold.
