  • 3 large Spanish onions
  • 2 to 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 lb. grated Swiss cheese
  • 2 cans cream of chicken soup
  • French bread

Directions

    Saute 3 thinly sliced Spanish onions in butter.

    Lay in bottom of greased casserole.
  3. 3
    Sprinkle Swiss cheese over onions.
  4. 4
    Pour 2 cans cream of chicken soup over onions.

    Place 1/2-inch slices French bread on top of onion mixture.
  6. 6
    Put pat of butter on each round of bread.
  7. 7
    Bake, covered, for 25 minutes at 350°.

    Remove cover.

    With slotted spoon, press down on each bread slice until juices almost reach top of each slice.
  10. 10
    Bake an additional 10 minutes.
