- 1 large onion
- 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 1 large lightly beaten egg
- 1 c. saltine cracker crumbs
- vegetable oil
- 1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
Directions

1Peel onion, leaving root end intact.

2Cut onion vertically into quarters.

3Cut to 1/2-inch of root end.
-
4Cut quarters vertically into thirds.
-
5Place onion in boiling water 1 minute.

6Remove and place in ice water for 5 minutes.

7Loosen petals if necessary. Drain onion, cut side down.

8Place flour in zipper plastic bag and onion and shake again.

9Chill 1 hour.
-
10Deep fry in 3 inches of oil until golden brown.

11Drain well on paper towels.
-
12Serve with Ranch style dressing, honey mustard or your choice.
