  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. melted fat
  • 1 egg white, unbeaten
  • 6 Tbsp. water, about
  • 3 large onions, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • fat for frying

Directions

    Sift flour and salt into mixing bowl. Mix milk, melted fat, and egg white; add to flour all at once. Beat until smooth. Add enough water to make a medium-thin batter. Separate onion rings and carefully dip in batter so each ring is covered. Drop a few at a time in 375° oil and fry until golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper. Sprinkle with salt. Serve hot.
