- 2 c. warm water
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. molasses
- 1 envelope onion soup mix
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 6 c. unsifted flour
- 6 Tbsp. melted shortening
Directions

1Measure warm water into large bowl.

2Sprinkle in yeast.

3Stir to dissolve.

4Add sugar, molasses and onion soup.

5Add egg and 3 cups flour.

6Beat well.

7Add shortening and remaining flour.

8Beat well.

9On lightly floured board, knead bread until smooth.

10Cover and let rise in warm place until double in bulk, about 45 minutes. Punch down.

11Shape into rolls.

12Cover; let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes.

13Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.

14Brush tops lightly with melted butter.

15Makes 4 dozen.
