Opal'S Blackberry Cake

  • 2 c. white sugar
  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 c. canned blackberries (I use Thank You brand in heavy syrup)
  • juice (as liquid for cake)
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour

    Sift together flour, spices, soda and cloves.

    Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    Blend well.

    Add dry ingredients; mix well.

    Stir in blackberries until mixture is smooth.

    Bake at 375° for 1 hour (or until done) in Bundt pan.
