  • 3 c. flour, sifted 2 times
  • 1/2 tsp. salt, sifted with flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 1/4 c. buttermilk, with 1 rounded tsp. soda
  • 1 grated orange rind
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 grated orange rind (for basting)

Directions

    Cream shortening and sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time.

    Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk.

    Add one grated orange rind and vanilla.

    Bake at 325° to 350°.

    Bake in tube pan.
