  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 3 1/2 c. plain flour
  • 1 tsp. rum flavoring
  • 1 box pitted dates, chopped (8 oz.)
  • 1 lb. orange candy slices, chopped
  • 1 small can grated coconut
  • 2 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 c. frozen orange juice, undiluted
  • 1 c. powdered sugar

    Cream butter and sugar; add beaten eggs, one at a time. Dissolve soda in buttermilk; add to creamed mixture alternately with flour, reserving 1 cup flour. Stir mixture after each addition;
