  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 14 cup shortening
  • 34 cup milk
  • 14 cup orange juice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped

    Sift dry ingredients into a bowl.

    Cut in shortening.

    Add milk, orange juice and egg.

    Mix only enough to dampen ingredients.

    Pour into a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan, spreading to corners and leaving a slight depression in center.
