- 5 to 6 oranges
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 egg
- 2 c. milk
- 4 c. flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Directions

1Peel outer skins of oranges with vegetable peeler to fill one cup easily.

2Chop into small pieces and put in small pan with enough water to cover.

3Cook 15 to 20 minutes until tender.

4Add 1 cup sugar and boil 10 minutes until syrupy.

5Cream butter with 1/2 cup sugar; add egg and milk.

6Mix flour, baking powder and salt and add to butter, beating well.

7Add orange peel syrup.

8Divide batter between two 8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch greased bread pans.

9Bake in 325° oven for 40 to 50 minutes.
