Ingredients
- 1 orange
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 c. raisins
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. grated orange rind (optional)
- 1 egg
- 2/3 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 large carton Cool Whip
Directions

1Squeeze orange and pour juice over 1/2 cup of the sugar.

2Stir to dissolve and set aside.

3Grind or cut up raisins.

4Cream together remainder of sugar and butter.

5Add egg and soda.

6Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk.

7Combine with raisins. Pour into a greased and floured 8 x 8 x 2-inch Pyrex dish or pan. Bake at 350° for about 40 minutes.

8While hot, pour sweetened orange juice over cake.

9When cool, tear up cake into small pieces and fold into Cool Whip.

10Keep refrigerated.

11Can be served as cake slices with Cool Whip.
