  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 1/2 c. plain flour
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk, with 1 tsp. soda dissolve in it
  • 1 lb. orange slice candy, chopped
  • 1 box dates, chopped
  • 1 c. nuts, chopped
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 can coconut

Directions

    Cream together the sugar and butter.
  2. 2
    Add the eggs, one at a time.
  3. 3
    Add alternately the flour and buttermilk mixture. Combine the orange slice candy, dates and nuts.

    Add 1/2 cup flour and stir carefully until each piece of candy, dates and nuts are coated. Add the coconut.

    Mix with cake batter and bake 3 hours at 250°.

    Bake in greased and floured tube pan.
