  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 lb. pitted dates, chopped
  • 2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 lb. orange slice candies
  • 1 (4 oz.) can flaked coconut
  • 2 c. orange juice
  • 2 c. confectioners sugar

    a measuring cup, dissolve baking soda
