Oven Steak With Potatoes

- 1 1/2 to 2 lb. round steak
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 c. shortening or oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 5 medium potatoes, sliced 1/2 inch thick
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 can water
Directions

1Cut steak in 6 to 8 pieces.

2Add salt and pepper.

3Dredge meat in flour; brown on both sides in oil in a 10-inch skillet.

4Remove steak; saute onion.

5Pour potatoes over onions; drain excess fat. Brown potatoes and onions for 5 minutes, turning frequently. Place meat on top of potatoes; add soup and water.

6Cover and cook over medium heat for 35 minutes.
