- 2 lb. beef, cut in 1-inch cubes
- 1 c. canned tomatoes
- 6 small carrots, cut in strips
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/2 c. diced celery
- 1 slice white bread, broken in pieces
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 medium size potatoes, cut into cubes
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. water
Directions

1Combine the meat, tomatoes (add more if necessary), carrots, onion, celery, bread and sugar.

2Add rest of ingredients; mix thoroughly.

3Pour into a 2 1/2-quart baking dish.

4Cover; bake in a 325° oven for about 3 1/2 hours, until meat and vegetables are tender.

5Serve with French bread and green salad.
