- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1 qt. milk, scalded (4 c.)
- 1 c. sugar
- 13 to 14 c. flour
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 c. shortening, melted and cooled
- 3 tsp. salt
Directions

1Scald milk.

2Add shortening and it will melt as it cools. Dissolve yeast in warm water.

3Add cooled milk, shortening and sugar.

4Stir well.

5Gradually add 12 cups flour, kneading in with hands.

6Cover with plastic wrap and put in cold oven to rise overnight, 8 to 14 hours.
