- 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 4 egg whites
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. lard
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. milk
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. chopped black walnuts
Directions

1Line a 9 x 13-inch pan with double thickness of wax paper. Sift dry ingredients together.

2Beat egg whites until frothy and add 1/2 cup sugar making high peaked meringue.

3Cream lard and add sugar.

4Beat until fluffy and add milk and dry ingredients alternately.

5Combine with meringue and put in pan.

6Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.
