Pastel Cookies

Directions

   Mix thoroughly the sugar, shortening, gelatin, eggs and vanilla.

   Stir in flour, baking powder and salt.

   Shape in 3/4-inch balls.

   Put 3 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten each with drinking glass with an etched design on bottom for design on cookie.

   Dip glass in sugar.

   Bake in preheated 400° oven for 6 to 8 minutes.

   Makes about 6 1/2 dozen.
