  • 1 pkg. yellow cake mix
  • 1 pt. can pears cut into small cubes, with juice
  • 2 1/3 c. coconut
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts

Directions

    Combine cake mix, pears, 1 cup coconut and eggs.

    Blend and beat at medium speed 2 minutes.

    Pour into greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Sprinkle with brown sugar.

    Bake at 325° for 45 minutes. Remove from oven; bring butter, sugar and milk to boil in small saucepan.

    Boil 2 minutes; remove from heat and stir in remaining coconut and nuts.

    Spoon over hot cake.

    Serve warm or cool.
