Ingredients

  • 6 c. chopped pears
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 4 ground celery stalks
  • 3 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. turmeric
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1 ground cabbage
  • 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 qt. vinegar

Directions

    Combine pears, raisins, onion, cabbage, celery, brown sugar, salt and spices in kettle.

    Pour vinegar over top.

    Simmer 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Pack into sterilized jars.

    Seal. Process in hot water bath for 10 minutes to complete seal. Yields 5 pints.
