- 2 lb. ripe pears, cut into pieces
- juice of 1 lemon
- 1/2 c. plus 1/4 c. butter
- 3/4 c. plus 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 1/2 c. slivered almonds
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Grease a 9-inch spring pan.

3Toss pears with lemon juice.

4Cream 1/2 cup butter with 3/4 cup sugar.

5Add beaten eggs, one at a time.

6Sift flour and baking powder.

7Add to mixture.

8Add almond extract.

9Stir batter.
-
10It will be thick. Spread batter in pan.

11Top with pear mixture.
-
12Top with 1/4 cup each butter and sugar.

13Top with slivered almonds.

14Bake at 350° for about 1 hour.
