  • 2 lb. ripe pears, cut into pieces
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 c. plus 1/4 c. butter
  • 3/4 c. plus 1/4 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 1/2 c. slivered almonds

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Grease a 9-inch spring pan.

    Toss pears with lemon juice.

    Cream 1/2 cup butter with 3/4 cup sugar.

    Add beaten eggs, one at a time.
