Ingredients

  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 2 Tbsp. flour (heaping)
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 or 1 1/2 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. red Karo syrup
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Mix sugar and flour with enough milk to mix.

    Add egg yolks; beat well.

    Add syrup, salt, remainder of milk, margarine and pecans.

    Cook until thick.

    Let cool.

    Add vanilla; pour into baked pie shell.

    Beat egg whites with 6 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla until forms a peak.

    Place on filling.

    Bake until brown.
