- 1 c. sweet butter (room temperature)
- 4 c. sugar
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 8 sq. bitter chocolate, melted
- 4 c. pastry flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 c. milk
- 2 c. pecans, finely chopped
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Grease 3 (9-inch) layer cake pans.

3In a large bowl, cream the butter.

4Gradually add the sugar; beat until fluffy.

5Add the beaten eggs and melted chocolate.

6Sift the dry ingredients; blend in alternately with the milk.

7Add the nuts and vanilla.

8Pour into prepared pans.

9Bake for 35 minutes, or until the center of the cake feels solid.

10Cool and remove the layers from the pans.

11Fill and frost.
