Ingredients
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1 c. milk
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. flour
- 1/2 c. nut meats
- 1/2 c. hot water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 Tbsp. powdered sugar
Directions

1Prepare medium syrup by boiling sugar and water together; set aside to cool.

2Add flour and salt to lightly beaten eggs.

3Add milk and mix well.

4Cook mixture in double boiler until thick and smooth, stirring constantly.

5To this add half of the brown syrup and shortening. Remove from fire.

6Add vanilla and cool.

7Put 2 tablespoons of mixture in each tart shell.

8Place 4 pecans on top. Use remaining syrup to cover the pecans and put a tablespoon of whipped cream in the center of each.

9Put in icebox and chill. Makes 12 tarts.
