Ingredients

  • 5 c. self rising flour
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 c. buttermilk (may use reg. milk and 1 tsp. vinegar)
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. warm water

Directions

    Mix soda, sugar and flour.

    Dissolve yeast in warm water.

    Mix all ingredients in warm water together and put on floured board and work adding a little flour until it can be handled.

    Pinch off biscuits or roll and cut biscuits, as many as desired.

    Put remainder into covered container and keep in refrigerator. Use as needed.

    Will keep several days.
