Ingredients

  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. Pet evaporated milk
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1/2 c. finely chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp. butter

Directions

    Butter an 8-inch square pan real good.

    Mix in a heavy 2-quart saucepan the water, brown sugar and Pet milk; cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil and sugar is dissolved.

    Boil until candy reaches soft ball stage (234°).

    Stir often.

    Remove from heat and add vanilla, butter and nuts.

    Beat until candy is thick and creamy, losing its shine.

    Quickly spread in buttered pan.

    Cool and cut in about 25 pieces.
