- 1 1/2 lb. beef round steak, 1/2-inch thick
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1/2 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
- 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp. beef-flavored gravy base
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 bell peppers, cut in 1/3-inch strips
Directions

1Trim fat from steak; cut meat into 2 x 1/4-inch strips.

2Brown in hot shortening, drain.

3Add tomato sauce, onion slices, garlic salt, beef-flavored base, Worcestershire sauce, salt and dash of pepper to browned meat.

4Cover tightly and simmer over low heat for 50 minutes.

5Stir in green pepper.

6Cook, covered, until pepper is tender (6 to 8 minutes).

7Serve over rice.
