Pepper Steak

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. top round steak
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1 green pepper, cut in 1-inch squares
  • 2 c. fresh sliced mushrooms
  • 2 Tbsp. dry white wine
  • salt and pepper

    Slice steak diagonally into 1/8-inch thick strips.

    (Steak will slice easier if nearly frozen.)

    Melt butter in skillet.

    Add onion and cook until limp.

    Remove from pan.

    Add meat to skillet and brown on either side.

    Return onion to skillet.

    Dissolve bouillon in water; add to meat, cover and cook about 15 minutes. Add green pepper and mushrooms.

    Cover and cook 5 minutes.

    Add salt, pepper and wine; let cook 5 minutes longer.
