  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 lb. steak (round or flank)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. minced onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 green peppers, minced
  • 1 c. canned beef bouillon
  • 1 c. drained, canned tomatoes or 3 tomatoes, quartered
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 tsp. soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 c. water
  • rice

    Melt shortening in skillet.

    Cut meat into 1-inch strips; sprinkle with salt and pepper.

    Fry meat, onion and garlic until brown.

    Add peppers and bouillon; cover and cook 30 minutes.

    Add tomatoes; simmer 5 minutes.

    Combine cornstarch, soy sauce and water.

    Add to meat mixture and cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly.

    Serve over cooked rice.
