- 1 1/2 lb. top beef or sirloin steak
- 1/4 c. salad oil
- 1 c. water
- 1 medium onion, cut in slices
- 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
- 1/4 tsp. ginger
- 2 medium green peppers, cut
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
- instant rice
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 2 medium tomatoes
Directions

1Trim fat from meat; cut meat into strips.

2Heat oil in large skillet.

3Add meat; cook, turning frequently, until brown, about 5 minutes.

4Stir in water, onion, garlic salt and ginger.

5Heat to boiling; reduce heat.

6Cover and simmer 12 to 15 minutes for round steak, 5 to 10 minutes for sirloin.

7Add green pepper strips during last 5 minutes of simmering while meat simmers.

8Cook instant rice as directed on package for 4 to 6 servings.

9Blend cornstarch, sugar and soy sauce.

10Stir into meat mixture.

11Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.

12Boil and stir 1 minute.

13Cut each tomato into eighths and place on meat mixture.

14Cover; cook over low heat just until tomatoes are heated through, about 3 minutes.

15Serve with rice.
