Pepper Steak

Ingredients

  • 1 lb round steak, sliced into thin strips (cut across grain)
  • 14 cup soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 12 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 14 cup oil
  • 1 cup green onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 green peppers, cut in 1 in squares (can also use yellow and red peppers)
  • 2 stalks celery, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup water

Directions

    Combine soy sauce, garlic and ginger.

    Add steak, toss and set aside while cutting up vegetables.

    In a large pan heat oil until lightly smoking.

    Add steak and cook until browned, cover and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes (may need to add a little water).

    Turn heat back up and add vegetables.

    Stir until vegetables are tender crisp, about 10 minutes.

    Mix cornstarch with water, and add to pan; stir and cook until thickened.

    Eat plain or serve over rice.
