Peppermint Stick Bars

Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. soft butter or margarine
  • 1 egg, separated
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces
  • 1/2 c. crushed peppermint candy canes

Directions

    In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, butter, egg yolk and vanilla.

    Mix well. Stir in chocolate pieces.

    Spread in ungreased 15 x 10-inch pan. Beat egg white until frothy.

    Brush over bars. Sprinkle crushed candy over bars.

    Bake until golden brown in a 350° oven, 25 to 30 minutes.

    Cool slightly and cut into bars. Makes about 40 bars.
