  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
  • 1/4 tsp. salt (optional)
  • 1/4 c. olive oil
  • 2 c. firmly packed fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 c. pine nuts (traditional) or walnuts
  • 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

    In a food processor or blender, combine the garlic, salt (if desired) and oil.

    Process the ingredients until they are smooth. Add the basil and pine nuts or walnuts and process the ingredients until they are smooth.

    (You may need to stop the machine once or twice to scrape the bowl or jar.)

    Tip: For thinner sauce, add chicken or vegetable broth.
