Ingredients

  • 2 lb. bread flour
  • 2 pkg. instant yeast
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 lb. butter or margarine
  • 1/4 lb. Crisco
  • 1 lb. white Cheddar cheese

Directions

    Mix together the flour, yeast, salt, sugar and Crisco; mix well.

    Add water to make a dough; knead well.

    Let rise 1 hour. Knead again; make 2 balls with dough.

    Sprinkle with flour; let stand for 1/2 hour.

    Roll out on floured board 1 inch thick; spread butter all over.

    Add grated cheese all over and fold in dough, making sure the ends are tucked in.

    Place on a greased baking sheet; bake at 375° until light brown.
