- 2 cups apple cider vinegar
- 2 3/4 cups sugar
- 3 ounces dried ancho chiles, stemmed, seeded, and cut or torn into 1-inch strips
Directions

1Combine the vinegar and sugar in a small saucepan.

2Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.

3Remove from the heat.

4Add the ancho strips, making sure they are submerged.

5Let them sit for at least 1 hour, or until the anchos have softened.

6Drain them and use right away, or cover and refrigerate.
