- 6 c. white vinegar
- 4 c. sugar
- 5 cinnamon sticks
- 2 big onions
- 1 3/4 c. canning salt
- 12 cloves
- 12 allspice
- 6 bay leaves

Directions

1Put vinegar and canning salt in a gallon crock.

2Put fish in brine for 10 days; stirring daily.

3Wash in cold water.

4Heat 4 cups white vinegar and 4 cups sugar until sugar dissolves.

5Add 12 cloves, 12 allspice, 5 cinnamon sticks and 6 bay leaves.

6Slice 2 big onions, place between layers.

7Let set 4 weeks.
