Ingredients
- 4 large onions, peeled
- 2 green peppers, seeded
- 2 red peppers, seeded
- 1/4 cups salt
- 4 cups cider vinegar
- 4 cups sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon powdered cloves
- 4 teaspoons mustard seed
- 4 1/2 pounds okra
Directions

1Grind the onions and peppers together in a meat grinder, using the coarsest blade.

2Mix the ground vegetables and salt in a bowl, cover with a lid or plate and weight the top.

3Leave for 3 hours, then drain.

4Put the vinegar, sugar and spices in a large pot and stir until the sugar is dissolved.

5Cut off the stems of the okra, add to the pot with the drained vegetables and cook over low heat until the vegetables are very hot and the liquid almost to a boiling point.

6Do not allow to boil.

7Ladle into hot, sterilized preserving jars,cover and seal.

8Store in refrigerator or cool place for 4 months before using.
