- 2 lb. tender, fresh okra
- 5 pods hot red peppers or green peppers
- 5 garlic cloves, peeled
- 1 qt. white vinegar
- 1/2 c. water
- 6 Tbsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. celery and mustard seed
- additional bell peppers and sugar to taste (optional)
Directions

1Wash okra and pack loosely into sterilized pint jars.

2Put 1 hot pepper pod and 1 garlic clove in each jar.

3Bring remaining ingredients to a boil.

4Pour over okra and seal.

5Let stand eight weeks before using.

6If pepper pods are not available, use 1/4 teaspoon of crushed, dried

7hot red pepper for each jar.
