Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 lb. Texas pears
  • 4 c. sugar
  • 2 c. water
  • 3 Tbsp. red hots
  • 3-inch stick cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. red food coloring
  • 2/3 c. vinegar (add after pears are tender)
  • a few cloves (added if you like)

    Mix all together in a pot, then pour into jars.

    When they start to turn pink, they are ready.
