Ingredients

  • 6 cups water
  • 2 lbs shrimp
  • 1 onion, sliced into rings
  • 2 14 ounces capers, drained
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 34 cup water
  • 14 cup lemon juice
  • 2 12 teaspoons celery seeds
  • 1 12 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 14 teaspoon Tabasco sauce

    Boil Shrimp.

    Drain well and rinse in cold water, and peel and de-vein.

    Place 1/2 shrimp in large bowl.

    Cover with 1/2 the onion rings, and 1/2 the capers.

    Repeat layering of shrimp, onion, and capers.

    Top with bay leaves.

    Combine all other ingredients, using a whisk to incorporate.

    Pour marinade over shrimp.

    Cover tightly, and chill for at least 8 hours.

    To serve, drain well and remove bay leaves.
